Kill For Connection

I lost internet connection for bout 1 hour. You and your remark Winn, Bah. I could have gone “sot sot” you know.
Internet connection back, online, feeling content, phew…
Emails, IMs, chats, browsing, blogging… its all back now…

Well since I am at it I would like to elaborate a bit on this matter. I think that internet was introduced in our home land more than 10 years ago, early or middle of 1990s. I still remember this guy who was like conning lotsa people. It was PC fair and if I am not mistaken its PC Fair 1996 or 1997. The internet was blooming and the latest technology was the 56K modem (yes I am old and modem was the best deal then). He interpreted the dialup of the 56K modem as a Ferrari on the road in Malaysia with jam and speed limits. I know my stuff so I screwed him and my parents got me a Pentium MMX with a 56K modem. Hey it was top of the class at that time ok… thanks dad, thanks mum.
Then of coz every knows the evolution… from the 56K then came ISDN 128 and 256. After that is the broadband we all know now. Besides that we have wireless broadband, and also those GSM freak, its 3G as well, and a little earlier the WAP and GPRS.

Actually my point is can you, you, you and you (yes you with the chopstick and bowl in your hand) live without internet access. We are doing lotsa things online nowadays, which we could not even imagine in the past 10 years or even 5 years for that matter. The things we are using the internet for nowadays are of coz internet banking, checking of account balances, transfers of funds, ticket booking for movies, concerts, looking for information, reference material, paying all sorts of bills, paying for your summons, blogging and etc etc etc.

I think you already know that I can’t really live without internet as I wanted to kill someone just coz they even suggested the thought. I normally am connected to the web constantly like 24 hours. I am connected the minute I on my workstation until I go home and then connected at home. Basically the only time you don’t see me online would be the time I use to drive to and fro from work and also when I have to drag myself to dinner or outing or clubbing after work. I spend my time reading your blogs as well and of coz listening to online radio and downloading some stuff (you don’t need to know what dear).

So basically I will kill for my connection, so don’t touch my link or anything related that might cause you severe bashing if my connection is interrupted.

What bout you. How important has the internet become for you. Do you hog your keyboard and screen every other minute? Do you lose track of time when surfing? Are you infected with this plague called internetism? How long can you live without internet connection? A few minutes? A few hours? A few days? A few months? A few years?

I budged in to an ongoing conversation and it was like so enlightening. You see ah, my colleague is pregnant, and is now 36 weeks old. Wait let me count ah, 1 month equal 4 weeks ah, so… its 9 months. Oh ok, so she’s gonna give birth soon. Another thing popped up which she told me her baby’s weight. I mean how do you do that?? Apparently according to another colleague, they will weight you and then they will weight you again at the later stage, the offset will be the baby’s weight. It’s not so accurate but then it’s worth the effort.
Well, come to think of it, when you are carrying a life in you it’s a big responsibility. Just imagine the responsibilities of being a carrier of life. You have to eat right, sleep right, carry yourself right to ensure the life you are carrying is/are able to reach this world safely. Bravo to all mothers and mothers to be…
I think I am not straight today… emo is taking control… I think I have been crapping these few days… very emo, very the sien, very the headache…
If I stepped on your tail please ignore me, it’s my emo…

Oh BTW I ripped this from kinkybluefairy, try this Orgasminc Stimulator

It’s the time of the year where our Muslim society fast for one whole month before the Hari Raya. It is more significant in my environment where left, right, front, behind, up and down are seated by Muslim colleagues. I of coz do not go on a fasting spree but I do respect them like it was in schools where we were taught to respect each other. I will avoid eating and drinking in front of them. If I were to eat or drink I would face away from them. But of coz I will normally drink in their presence unless I have been starving for like a week and desperately in need of some organic material for the pleasure of my stomach’s digestive juices.
We normally have “buka puasa” sessions with our vendor and of coz it’s their treat. Yesterday was a treat from Siemens, thanks Ho, Graham. The occasion was in Istana Hotel and there were plenty of food around. I normally would indulge in food and stuff myself up to the point that my pant and belt would break loose like the incredible hulk minus the hunkiness and looks. But yesterday was different, I don’t know if it was coz of my emo (yes I can be emo too), basically I took a piece of duck, chicken, lamb, a few dim sum, some prawns, 2 piece of curry chicken and a bowl of mixed ABC. I can assure you the meats were small pieces. If I kept count I swear I was eating only 20%, but I felt full. Enough bout me though…
It’s like this, are we (non Muslim) suppose to indulge in the occasions when we do not fast. I mean they go fasting with no food and drink for the day while you chomp down chunks and chunks of organic material. Do we feel grateful or something as we break fast? Do they? Another burning quest I seek is the indulgence into food during this occasion especially in hotel buffets. I know I am guilty of it as I used to eat like mad. I could not imagine the amount of food I ate every time at the end of the break fast session. I am not against breaking fast at such locations but to the individual themselves.
Don’t you think when you’ve paid for a buffet and then when the food is like free flowing, you tend to eat at little more than usual? It’s not like our tanks suddenly increase in size, but it nature I guess. Don’t you think that it’s like second nature where we tend to take and take when it’s available?
Do you do the same? Do you overeat at times? Are you able to control with all the temptations around?

I have been thinking bout this piece of news that i heard on the radion early this morning. Accordingly the government in Holland has stepped in to control the number of cars on the road during peak hours. They have offered like RM 800 a day for anyone of the working community to leave their car at homes. They will install some device on the car to ensure that the car is at home. Now here’s the catch

1) You have to be employed (means working lah)
2) You cannot go to work earlier or later than usual

Imagine us, in Malaysia, you get 800 bucks for leaving the car in the house…
Would taking the public transport worth the hassle??
Would the inconvenience of not having your own transport worth the hassle??
Would you buy a car and leave it at home for the RM 800 a day??
Would you do it??

I was a lil early today, so I went to the “pasar Ramadhan” at my place and bought ABC. It was still early so I put it in the freezer and did some exercise. When I finished and wanted to savour my dessert, it became hard as rock. I had to virtually force the spoon in and digging it like unearthing for seeding or hacking into the north pole. It took like 30 min just to get the it back to edible stage. Phew!!

It’s bit the stupid rite… What was I thinking any way…

I am angry. I am furious. I feel like killing now!!! I heard on the news today and here is a quote from the Star on the internet

“MUAR: A scooter rider went on a brick-throwing rampage, causing injuries to three motorists and a car passenger.”

WTF. What the hell is happening here??? Do you think it’s funny? Do you know what you have done? You could’ve killed someone. What the hell are you thinking you bloody selfish inconsiderate idiot!!! You are bloody riding a scooter, what would you say if cars start running you down from behind, front, left, right and may be hit you with a baseball steering lock from the side or throw ciggies butt right in your lap. You think you are bad ah? You think you are tough ah? You think you are smart ah? SCREW YOU!!!
If you think that is funny wait till you get caught. I wish you get sentenced to jail for causing harm and gets whipping everyday for the rest of your life. If I had things my way and with the power vested in me (how I wish I have it now), I will grab your puny lil hand and slice off your fingers one by one. I will have your hands reduced to the size of peanuts. I will remove your eyeballs and send you to hell. May you burn in HELL. Burn for ETERNITY. May you never rest in peace.
I’m sorry if I sound like SATAN or any satanic being, but I still stand by what I have said, “you shall burn in hell for all eternity”. Is it that there is no longer fun in playing video games, drinking at the mamak, or whatever it is you do to past than that you have to resort into these kind of activities.
I do not know how old or gender or if that we can even categorize a human being at this time. But don’t you think before you act. If the same thing happened to you what would you do? It’s always wise to put yourself in other shoes, though even I cannot do that all the time. If you do not like something done towards you, then do you think its ok for you to do it to others? I would say no.
Think with your brains sometimes before you do something before someone do something to you. I would just like to spark a thought in you with the quote…

“Don’t to unto others what you don’t want other do unto you”

Childhood…

I was out with my mum today like normal as I go out with her like every weekend. It’s like a family day kinda thingee where we go out shopping for food, household items etc etc etc. Yada yada yada, call me a baby or a mummy’s boy if you want to, but going out with my family is a priority for me like every week and I am so liking it…
We were out in this shopping complex (UE3) and so happen there was a pool of people in the main wing. It’s a drawing contest for kids. It so happened that it was prize giving time, so I stood there for a while and a political person was invited to give speech and do the honour of prize giving to the kids. In his speech he touches on his younger days where he used to roam around in the backyard, rivers, catching fighting fish, fighting spiders and so forth. He said the importance of the day was the parents participated together with the child in the competition… do you get what signal he was trying to send out??
I was not keen on the outdoor since I was young but then again I did participate in a lot of these child development activities thanks to my naughty friends. They taught me the art of catching the fighting spiders, fighting worms, catching worms, catching fish, and load of other stuff.
OK OK, you guys don’t have to guess, I am not so young so therefore I am quite old if you wanna know. I am the boy who grew up with thundercats, B&W Mickey Mouse, He-man, CBS video game, Michael Jacksons, Billie jean, We Are The World and stuff like that. I then changed my focus to video game which span from the famous rival of ATARI the CBS, micro genius, PS, Dreamcast, and my current PS2. ok, that’s enough bout me for the time being…
What I really want to touch on is our youth… we have all grown from different era, different environment and definitely different locations. During my childhood I used to hear the elderly said “during my childhood days, I only have… / I did this and that…”. Their childhood are more towards the environment like fishing, worming, spidering, riding bicycles, climb trees and other stuff. When it was my time, it’s like a hybrid where I like in the concrete jungle and the only land and trees I see is the backyard or some tall grassy land. I guess nowadays these locations are somewhat less likely to be found in places especially deep in the jungle of concrete which is called Kay Elle.
I remember that even during my time, we buy kites, we buy “gasing”, we buy marbles, we play with cards with lotsa picture and hit until my hand goes numb kinda things. I am actually curious about the activities for children nowadays, I mean what are their past times??? Blogging is definitely catching up as I type this!!! With all the constraints that we have now like children are kept in the house (coz scared of kidnappers), some disallowed to join camping and other outdoor activities coz scared of injuries or getting lost in the jungle.
How meaningful has our childhood been??? Can we look back and say we did this during our childhood, it was so much fun!!! I have heard the debate on this before which revolved around the childhood of the older generation where they were exposed to a lot of nature, and basically self discovery. The debate at that point was our children are slowly being ripped of that pleasure of self discovery in life, thus rendering them to not know the nature. It’s like me as well, I mean I don’t know a lot of plants and trees, insects and sounds, in real life as compared to my friends who are elder and lives in the suburban. Are the children today who lives in the total concrete jungle, will be totally naďve to nature??? Will they even know what a “Cengal” tree looks like in real??? Will they even know what a squirrel looks like and behave in real???
But I think there are stages in life and of coz revolution in life. The direction of the evolution is that we have been directed to the digital age, where even a 8 years old child is better verse in computer than most adults we might know.
What kinda childhood do you think is right???
What do you think of your childhood??? Share your thoughts and experiences…
