Posted under Anger & Everyday Life

Booked my usual tickets online and went for a movie. My tooth is still aching and I just feel very uneasy. Tried to eat a double cheeseburger and it ended up a tragedy. I would normally gobble up my big mac in like minutes, but I had to endure the pain and I think I bitten the burger like 30 times before I could finish it in such a long time. This is killing me, just opening my mouth a little wider produced excruciating pain. Damn damn damn…

Back to the cinema situation, so I went in and sat at my place and got comfy. I switched my phone to vibrate at the same time and then the screeners and ads come on. Slowly the cinema filled up and a pair of lady sat beside me and another 2 pairs sat in front of me. I am normally very ignorant of people so I just sat there enjoying my show as I paid for it and I am going to enjoy it. But alas, these people have to make it difficult for me to make my moneys worth.

First she starts out yapping with her friend with routine like that’s her family, this is the girl and other stuff like that. Hello! Others are trying to watch the movie and want to find out the traditional way, by watching. Well she stopped after a while and I thought it will be very enjoyable after that. Then the most irritating thing happened.

“Beep!” *god knows what song starts playing*

I thought I made it clear when I purposely took out my phone indicating it’s in vibrate mode as her phone rang a few times. But NO… she has to ignore me and kept it in a ringing mode. If you sit in one corner alone in the dark then I don’t mind but if you sit next to me and every time your phone rings and I have to bear with you’re what ever ring tones of a song then it’s an annoying ordeal to me. And it rang multiple times although you did not pick it up and smsed back (which I have to give credit to you), but still when it rang it annoyed me. If other did not point it out or express their dismay its not coz they are not annoyed, it’s just that they do not want to make it an unpleasant experience for every one else.

It’s some times a shame to know that we have inconsiderate people around in our community. It’s not like you paid for the movie and then you can do whatever you want in the theatre. If that would be true then would you like to sit beside me when I start blasting my radio or something while watching a movie? I guess you won’t like it. And I would definitely know that you won’t like it if my phone rings every 15 minutes and I start yakking away on the phone next to you.

In this matter, I guess it calls for the moral values of inconsiderate. Did you not learn to be considerate? I know I did not only learn during my morale classes but from elders, friends, family and even society. I can see that we can be considerate in so many things in life but these small petty things are actually ignored and believe me, ignorance here is no bliss to anyone. If it was going to be some other hot tempered person, you would have gotten the shame of your life when the whole cinema booed you.

I guess to me it’s actually a considerate move to switch any phone to vibrate mode and concentrate on the movie. The movie makers and casts did not spend their money and time producing a movie so you can sit in during the movie and start playing your ring tones or chit chat during the movie. And it would certainly a considerate move to ensure that you do not cause others who paid for the movie as well uncomfortable.

What do you think should be the ethics in the cinema? What should you do to avoid inconvenience to yourself and others? What else have you faced in the cinema that just drives you up the wall?
Do share with me if you have some story bout cinemas…

Oh by the way, the movie I watched was Exorcism of Emily Rose… will tell more bout the movie later…

We all pay the same amount of $$$, and the purpose is to watch the movie, not yak away. I cannot say much bout answering phone, coz I do that also, but it would only for emergency cases as my work requires it. So I do a short yes, what problem, and then hangs up. I guess I should stop that as well. Respecting other is the importance as every one paid for their tickets. Let’s hope we don’t run into such event again.

in the event i have to answer phone due to work, i’d walk to the back of the theatre. i am very sick of listening to some so called “funky” ringtones. or some narrator in the cinema while i was trying to concentrate on my movie!!

i’m going for exorcism of emily rose tmr! :) let’s hope history doesn’t repeat itself.
