I was intimidated to write this, after listening to something on the radio, but I have my doubts. I have always tagged myself as “open”, but then again, in so many situations, I felt that I am so conservative. I always say that I am open in discussing sex related issues or other of such matter. As time goes by, I find that I have been in contradiction, although not all the time, it’s still disturbing that I have been going against myself once in a while.
I’ve heard on the radio this morning, a lady was so called arrested because she had a condom in her hand bag or bag or something like that. She was then brought back to the police station of suspicion of prostitution. All this because of a condom in the bag…
It’s still in the mindset of our society, that sex is somewhat of a subject that should not be discussed openly. But then again, if we are not going to discuss about it, then when are we going to learn about it. Does our younger generation still need to rely on the use of pornography materials and their immature mind to try to comprehend one of nature’s laws? Are the young minds able to comprehend what the pornography material they got their hands on, and make the correct interpretation? I would bet the percentage would be way below the 0 mark. I did not.
Condom is one of man’s creations that should not be looked at lightly. This little invention has brought so much joy and saved lives. It has been used for family planning to ensure that you are ready to have kids. It’s used for safe sex, if you are just fooling around, experimenting, or even for some bad purposes that you can guess by yourself. Another significant thing about condoms is that it has reduced the chances of contracting “AIDS” which in turn has saved so many lives throughout the world.
If you are the type that goes all out on the one night stand spree, I would strongly suggest using the condoms as it will save you from STDs and most importantly, protect others which you intend to fool around. It’s bad enough that you fool around, but spreading diseases to other is just plain evil, especially if you know you have such STDs.
As for the younger counterparts, it’s definitely a must for safe sex as you do not want to get pregnant if you are let’s say 15 years old. It would be hell to get married because of pregnancy at such a young age. I’m not saying that with safe sex you should go ahead and do it, but at least if you do it, make sure it’s safe. You don’t want angry parents knocking on your doors with a pregnant daughter, believe me, it’s hell.
For couples who want to enjoy being couples can use it to ensure family planning is a part of their plan. They can ensure that they won’t be burden with a child suddenly right after their marriage. Then again, when they are ready, to get pregnant is a very different things altogether.
I guess in our society, the subject such as sex will still have to be discussed behind closed doors. As for the condoms part, I guess we have known of this miracle rubber since umpteen of years ago. We know of it’s origin, it’s use, but then we do not use it, but rather suffer. I believe that we are still in a stage where if someone carries a condoms and he is a guy, the first impression would be that he is a perverted guy or something like that. You tell me your impression of the guy you just met or girl, and you find him/her dropping condoms out of their wallet or purse.
We are just reluctant or to be ashamed to go out and publicly purchase condoms because the perception from society is that, it is bad. We always label these people as perverts and other stuffs like that. We are actually ignoring the fact that using a condom actually will help in saving lives and prevent further social illnesses due relating to sex such as baby abandoning and STDs. Even I have a reluctant feeling whenever I want to look at condoms. Not that I am buying or using any of them, but to check out the varieties out there in the market. Imagine the butterflies in the stomach of the young man who wanted to buy and use condoms while having sex. In the end he might not even buy any and end up getting his girl pregnant and then it turns to abandoning the baby or marriage or getting STDs or may be all of it in one shot.
It has been proven that condoms reduced the number of infected AIDS victims in certain country after the promotion and education of condoms, so why are we still so conservative? If we are to save lives, we have to change. We need to look at things in a different perspective. We need to educate instead of ignoring these facts.
On another note, not having sex would be the ultimate in stopping all these, but we are human, we make mistakes. Who doesn’t. Therefore, prevention is another way to ensure that our mistakes do not becomes a catastrophe for us. I am not condoning to sex before marriage or one nightstand or teen sex or what so ever kind of sex you may prefer, but think of the consequences and always be safe than sorry. I’m just thinking why condoms have become such that in possession of it makes you looks like a devil in disguise.
Roll down the rubberman, and make sure it’s safe sex if you must do it.

I agree totally. ( raising my hands, feets and handbag - handbag without condom in it :p)
Malaysian govt is over sensetive at times . What’s with having condoms in our bag? It’s not even illegal! if it’s a wrongdoing for keeping condoms, then why sell it? #*)&^_

You have a great point there but from what you wrote, I foresee that you’ll be a good father one day! Hehe…but I guess it’s still a taboo to talk about sex or use of condoms in Malaysia. The younger generations are still too ignorant about the issue itself, let alone the responsibility or commitment one has to bear. Anyway, *thumbs up* you’ve done the right thing to blog on this topic! =)

So long as things do not change, we are stuck in this situation.
Again I would say, it all start with us, each and everyone of us.

Thanks for the compliment, but I still have doubts, it’s not easy being a parent, let alone a good one. Ignorance is definitely killing in this situation and they say ignorance is bliss.
Let’s hope the younger generation will be better off with a head start where we did not.
