It was a public holiday yesterday and then I knew that there was this 8 TV event in BTS. I thought it was just a normal TV station event so what the heck. I decided to venture to BTS anyway despite the fact that there would be a crowd. I actually left the house at about half past noon and reach BTS at about half past one. I thought that it would be bad with all these people attending the event but then again I managed to park my car at B4, which is not that bad. I remembered one time just before Christmas where they had a countdown in Sg Wang, I had to park my car at B5 and there were only about 10 empty available spaces. Therefore, this was not bad at all.

I only got to know that the event was actually for S.H.E. who came over to promote their new drama which I do not know the actual name. There weren’t many people there, so I thought that they may not be there yet as the session starts at half past four in the afternoon. So I went for lunch at a Korean restaurant in Low Yat Plaza and did some shopping in Sg Wang. After all that I made it back to BTS at around half past three. Shopped around in BTS and asked around for the prices of getting a haircut. The prices that I got were around RM 45 for a wash and cut or I could go for highlight, wash and cut for the price of RM 199. I still have not decided yet, but definitely, a haircut is in need before the auspicious chinese new year.

I had a glance at the event organized for S.H.E. fans and the media. It was not like what I have imagined. You know those video clips, news, papers, or magazines you have seen, depicting the “meet the fans” sessions overseas especially in Hong Kong. I have always had the impression when the artist or whom ever superstars or the entertainment industry are here, it would be like a big event. People dress up like their idols, people screaming, and people fainting and suffocating of lack of air, you know stuff like that.

My utmost and you can say “high” experience was when Michael Jackson decided to have 2 days of concert here in Malaysia. I remember queuing for hours in the streets just to buy tickets. I went to the concert early just so I might not be late. I yelled and screamed during the concert until I lost my voice. It was one of the few concerts which I have been to and it can easily be the best for me, no question about it. I have not been going to any other concert after that.

Back to S.H.E., I saw a handful of crowd on level six of BTS waiting and some were inside already. Except for the organizers which were well over their 20s, the fans and all the others which were there was in the age range of 15 to 18. It just did not look anything like what we normally see in TV of those in Hong Kong. It would be like a push and pull with yelling and long queues or even people fainting. I guess we just have not gone to that stage, which in my opinion is a good thing. I mean at least we know there’s not going to be any injuries or stuff like that happening. I believe being a fan is one thing and having to enjoy such events in a safe environment is another. You can be a die hard fan and stuff like that or yell until you could not utter a word for the next 2 months, but keeping such event safe should ultimately be the number one criteria for such events.

I think that it’s good that our youngsters are actually enjoying these events, as well as learning to appreciate them. It’s certainly more healthy this way and I bet parents would be more than willing to let their children go to these events and future events. If there was any misfortune, do you think your parents would let you go, knowing that there is a chance for you to get hurt in any way possible. I bet not.

I think that our society know how to enjoy ourselves and prevent any thing that could tarnish this. I’m not saying that these people overseas are not enjoying or are just plain rude or something like that, but I think we would enjoy such events better if we were to follow a few guidelines. Then it would be more memorable to everyone rather than having the news reporting how many people needs first aid, how many injured, how many fainted and things like that.

I think it all boils down to the individual and what they value, which in turn determines how they behave during such events. I hope we would be able to keep it this way and hopefully when our children go for such events, or even ourselves, it would be as such where everyone enjoys themselves.
