Mega Mac

Is big, don’t you think so. Well at least for beef lovers or burger lovers who loves the sized up burger. This is what our trusty and lovable fast food joint has come up. I guess they want a piece of the piece from the giant burger’s market share.

This is my second Mega Mac anyway in a week’s time anyway. This giant burger looks exactly like the original except they just double the meat if you can see. Still can take a bit if you open your jaws a little more than usual. However this not so little bun with meat does mess up your hands as it does with the original. The packaging still does not leave your hands clean of the sauce, vegetables and meat that seems to fall off and slip through the pressure from your hands on the bun.

But still beware, this is still consider a dwarf to the ever famous Carls Jr. Even when I have a large meal with this burger it does not even come close to a large meal of a RM 30+ Carls Jr guacamole burger. A Carls Jr. meal can actually render me disabled at the chair for a moment while I can still enjoy nuggets, fries and 2 apple pie with this Mega Mac.

Food can really soothes the soul…

Lunch

2 pieces of fried chicken, 2 large fries, 1 country grilled chicken burger, 1 mcchicken burger, 1 large coke. That was lunch. It has been sometime since I had eaten like that.

The start of the year sees to a public holiday, which is a good start. The rest of it can only be sum up with one word, work. Rushing around to get things running is not easy, it’s really tough, especially when things cannot be done with the lone effort of myself.

Here’s to a great start of the new year to all! Thanks to everyone for your messages, SMS and posts.

Seminar at Genting Awana
Expressed by zeroimpact on Wednesday, 20th June, 2007, 170, 25 at 10:34:21 690

Posted under Food & My Thoughts & Work

I stayed there for 2 nights and well, other than the weather with even the rain, is better than most of the things there. It was a business trip, a seminar which I attended with two other colleagues.

We left for Genting Awana on Friday, after lunch, as there were still things to do in the office before we left. We had a GPS device and it’s kind of a cool device which could tell you the shortest route to any destinations. It even reroutes when you take a different route or if you mistakenly went to the wrong route. Now that is a cool device and when I say it tells you I mean it really speaks to you, not you have to look at it and end up hitting someone’s car from behind. The only downside of this device is that throughout the journey it kept telling me to slow down, I mean what the hell, if it was not a device and proof to have some use, I’d just throw it out of the window, and of course it was not mine too.

The whole journey took a little bit more time that usual as there was a heavy downpour last Friday and I was blinded in seconds when water was splashed over my car. We reached our destination about thirty minutes after three, got our room cards, key cards, and checked in. The first disappointment is that there was no broadband, or even wireless access. Now what is a laptop good for when there is no connection, games and movies, what else.

After the short rest, then we went for buffet dinner, oh did I mention it was all expenses paid. Basically all meals are provided but the main disappointment is, the food was bad, plainly said. The food was not heated right or enough, and well, may be it’s just me and my colleague, we just find the food is not up to standard at all. Basically the meals there were just to fill an empty stomach so it does not growl in the middle of the night or during the presentations.

The second day was filled with presentation and tasteless food. I can tell you that its tiring as the presentation starts from nine in the morning till five in the afternoon and gosh, on a Saturday. Then we have some social time with some of the other participants and from there I got to know more people and also knowledge.

The BBQ dinner after the presentations was slightly better but still bad. The BBQ dinner is actually a Hawaiian style cooking called IMU. They cook all the meat like chicken, beef, mutton, potatoes and other food in a bricked place right by the pool. They constructed a pit underground below this bricked place, where charcoal, rocks and banana stems are located. Another point to note is there is no oil used in this cooking style, NO OIL.

After the dinner, we just left for our rooms and everyone was dead tired. We decided not to take breakfast or participate in the treasure hunt while the others go for golf. Just could not bear eating in that place for another meal, starving sounds better at that time.

We also did not have any luck, there were loads of prizes for lucky draw and stuff but the three of us just don’t have the luck. As for me, I don’t have luck for I have never got anything from lucky draws in seminars.

That concludes my weekend in Genting Awana, a business come relaxing trip, well, sort of. I’m not sure if it’s because of the crowd during the weekend or that is the quality they can come up with, but if you want to starve and relax, I guess this is a good place. So ladies, why go to slimming center and sweet while you can stay here for a week in the chilly air and cool environment.

Yeah I know, I’m crazy, so bite me.

Chilli Pan Mee

I was first tagged by Wennnn on this and then day-dreamer. So day-dreamer, I have actually been tagged just not done yet. Nevertheless I will do this for food is heaven. Those who knows me will know that I like food, especially good ones which I have to travel to just eat an over priced bowl of food and get mocked by the owner sometimes for being impatient or some other things. Another thing is, I always break the rules, so this will have to do and there will be no tagging, however if you would like to tell me of your favourite food in your state of country or even the world, just let me know and do it. I will come and drool over it, promise.

At first glance, it looks like your average pan mee, but after adding the most important ingredient, it automatically turns out to be chilli pan mee, which is a must. The amount is up to you but for me, two to three big spoonfuls are great. The so called chilli is made from dried chilli and other chillies, I think, all put together and grounded, mashed, blended. Actually that is just what I think, if you really want to know, try and ask the owner, but I doubt he will give you the recipe.

I have been there many times before and in the course of time, I did bring some of my friends there. The location of the place is in Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman or batu road if you are like me, a little old inside. Actually I’m not sure of the road name, any way if you come from Jalan Tun Razak or Lebuhraya Mahameru, take the exit to the Bulatan Pahang. At the roundabout, make a turn into Jalan Pahang, the road opposite the road to Tawakal. Go straight from there until you reach a Honda showroom, which is just before the crossroad where Maju Junction is. Turn in right after the Honda showroom, and then take a left turn after that and you will see a shop called Kin Kin. Looking for parking is quite a hassle especially on a weekday. Normally I will park into an open air parking on the right before turning left to the shop, but you got to pay of coz on weekdays.

Every time I go there, I will just sit at any table and wait. You actually don’t need to. They will come to you with herbal tea of the day and ask if you want or not and give a glass to you if you want or bring other drink for you if you wish. As for the main course, they will automatically bring you a bowl when it’s your turn. Normally we’d tell them to bring an extra bowl as normally one bowl is not enough, but then again, if you are there for the first time, try it out first, for if it’s not the stomach free space, the chilli will determine the next bowl.

I have got to say, it’s really spicy and hot, so put the red stuff in with caution. And another word of advice, if you are impatience or do not like unfriendly services then you should stay away from this place. If you are unlucky and it’s a weekday, you may see people waiting at the side of every table in the shop or you may need to share tables.

Now I’ll leave you with the photos of the food.
Hey you, don’t drool on the keyboard la… tsk tsk tsk!

Wedding Anniversary 2007

Happy wedding anniversary, to my parents, on this day. This was supposed to come in early of the day, but then again, I’m to be blame. No excuses though.

Many years ago they got together and decided to get married, and to date, I think it’s nearly fourty years of marriage, yes I’m not that kind of good son where I know all these dates and stuff like that.

We had a dinner last weekend, which is the one I was telling you all about and well, I have some pictures to make you guys drool this time. The dinner was a ten course Chinese dinner at Janbo Restaurant in Wenworth Hotel, Jalan Pudu. It so happened that night, there was a wedding dinner too. The room we had comes with it’s own karaoke and television set. Impressive!

I actually wanted to talk about something regarding this matter but then again I think I’ll leave it for next time. I’ll leave you guys and gals here salivating a bit. Not very often you get to see food here eh.

The Thai Buffet
Expressed by zeroimpact on Saturday, 26th May, 2007, 145, 21 at 09:06:27 629

The Thai buffet dinner, which I had last night, is located in Cheras. If you know Leisure Mall in Cheras, this place is not in the mall, but outside, the same row as Hong Leong Bank. It’s the second or third shop from Hong Leong bank.

First of all, sorry for there will be no pictures as I was too hungry at that time and we just ordered and walloped all the food in a blink of an eye. Another thing to note is that this RM 12.90 promotion ends this month, so sad.

The concept of the buffet is like Bangsar Seafood Village, where you can order dishes from the menu and there is no limit imposed on how many times you can order the same dish but the rule is there too, where if you can’t finish, the wastage will be weighted and charged back. Where is Ace Ace when you need him ah.

I will just be brief on this as I do not have much to show. The food was nice, not incredible but nice, better some most of the food you have outside which costs a bomb compared to it. We ordered fish cake, chicken feet, tofu, beef, green curry chicken, cockles, vegetables and quite a number of dishes more. Overall, the food is nice, no regrets. We had to fork out about RM 16.00 as drinks were not included, and of course we ordered dessert as well. For the money spent, I find it really worth it for we walked out of the place feeling so heavy that our legs might just give way. Oh, and it’s only from Monday to Friday and it ends this month.

Now with that, I’m here in the office, having to work this Saturday morning. Tomorrow is a dinner with my family again for some occasion that I’m really proud of. Will tell you all bout it later. So have a good weekend you all and tell me what you will and have done for the weekend, depending on when you read this of coz.

Dinner yesterday was at Tanjung Malim, a small town just after the Selangor border and into Perak. Yes, I was in Perak yesterday.

Dinner was at a place called Garden Seafood restaurant in Tanjung Malim and well, I don’t really know how to give directions to this place as I used the trunk road from the way of Behrang and not Kuala Lumpur. If you use the trunk road from Behrang it’s just on the left of the road and you will not miss it.

The restaurant is Chinese own I presumed as the dishes are all Chinese style delicacies. However the most of the waiters and waitress are Malay. This place is “halal” as the sign in on the door. The cooks are still Chinese I presume judging from the food and taste.

The order consisted of dry chili mantis prawn, Ah Long Sotong (sweet sour ala Thai), buttered fish slices, onion deer meat and vegetable fried with belacan. The meal cost sixty one bucks and I can only complain bout the deer meat, which could have been frozen too long. It was really delicious and I don’t mind going back another time.

After dinner, my heart almost stopped. No, not because of the delicious methyl mercury, but of something else. It’s coz steed’s sick again. Steed coughed a bit last week, I thought it would be better after things got back to normal but I was wrong.

I was driving a little less than a hundred km/h, when suddenly I felt the gears shifted by itself from four to three. Puzzled and breathless, the N started flashing at a regular interval. I stopped by the roadside for a while and all the gears went haywire. I called steed’s doctor and he said it’s most probably problem with the gear box. I asked a friend and he said he also just changed one which cost him more than eight hundred bucks.

Steed and I got back with minimal problems today before admitting steed for another checkup. This is the first time I had to drive on the north south highway, below a hundred km/h, at about eighty km/h. I lost count how many cars passed by us during the almost two hour ordeal. Normally I would lose count on the number of cars that we pass by.

However at the end, just towards the end of the highway, I managed to overtake an uncle obviously driving a little slower than me.

Lame man.

Dinner At Carnivore
Expressed by zeroimpact on Saturday, 10th February, 2007, 40, 06 at 23:34:05 273

During my short stay in Singapore, I had the pleasure to dine in at a restaurant called Carnivore. It’s a Brazilian restaurant. It was a buffet and I saw waiters walking around with spear kind of tool with a knife. It’s like grilled meat on a stick, kebab style.

We started with the buffet with around inside the restaurant which consist to my surprise at first as there is no meat at all. It was all starters and salad like palm’s heart, corn, potatoes and other non meat dishes. Even though only vegetables, the corn and palm’s heart tasted real good.

As we sat in the open air table with a bottle of red wine, the waiters came and served us, although it was a buffet dinner. To me it was buffet at the salad bar. Well I thought that it was a normal buffet but then the restaurant really live up to its name of Carnivore. The waiters brought and served us a lot of meat. We were served with lamb, sausages, pork, bacon, beef hump, salmon fish, grilled pineapple, chicken, chicken heart and many more. Well not all of them are meat but that was a lot of meat from various part of the animal.

The food was really good and of coz, the amount was like bottomless pits. The meat just keeps coming and coming and coming. The hearty meal took around 2 hours and it was really one that I enjoyed as it was good food coupled with wine. The best part is the company of my colleagues which I guess I could only wish for, but it came true for me. A really good restaurant for the meat eaters, definitely.

Additional Sambal Additional 50 Cents
Expressed by zeroimpact on Sunday, 4th February, 2007, 34, 05 at 12:13:09 800

Posted under Food & Me & Rants

Went out with mum yesterday to Jusco which is quite near my house. Just the two of us and we went shopping for some CNY stuff and we bought two red pineapples and a firecracker. It was a nice day where we just went out and well, I think you get what I mean.

Stopped by Old Town Kopitiam there to have dinner. I had not have anything for the day so I’m not sure if it still can be considered dinner or may be a brunchner. Well anyway, I have visited this food chain before so not that new right. I though so myself. Well we ordered food and drinks as usual. Then we added toast as well as we wanted to try it as they use brown bread and not white bread.

The thing that really caused me to write this is that they charged me 50 cents for additional sambal, which they put in those plastic thing which you use in McDonalds. Can you believe it, 50 cents for sambal! That is why I always eat hawker food at hawker places where they can give you the all the sambal you can eat at no additional charges and the rest in their respective premises. It’s not that I am not willing to pay, but when I have paid almost 8 bucks for a plate or rendang chicken which will cost me a mere 3 bucks the most and you charge me 50 cents for sambal, that’s a bit too much.

I’ll be going to Singapore in the morning tomorrow and I have 2 presentations to attend to during the course of the two days before flying back again on Tuesday after the presentation at night. So packed.
