First of all if you have read the reviews, I’m sure you would know that the reviews are putting it down. However it’s basically not the review we are talking bout here. The movie to me was ok, quite action packed and fast paced.

I watched this in IMAX, and of coz it’s not 3D. The screen is really big and a little degree of curve. I find watching movies with this big screen not so enjoyable. With the little curve and the big screen and the seating I had, which was 6th from the back row, I find watching action movies a hassle.

The big screen actually forces your head to move rather than just the eye and basically I could not catch the whole screen in my eyes. Another thins is that the screen is slightly curved, which I guess is meant for 3D realistic movies, made certain parts of the screen a little blur for me, especially the edges. I believe that watching a non so action packed movie will be more easy on the eyes, for throughout the movie I had to move my head just to follow the tail of the action.

Now for a tag by Ah Wen, I need to list down my goals

  • Scores lots of goal and beat all the football teams out there no matter what the name is, and I don’t even like football.
  • I actually have only one which is to make sure my parents will be comfortable and be well taken cared of by me, that is and my siblings. Oh and also all my loved ones
  • Another one just came to mind, peace and harmony to all, even if you are the stupid one who starts whatever freaking bad things in the world like war, economic downfall or any sort of stupid things like that
  • No tag tag for this also, if you think you need to list out your goals then put it up with this taggie, a good way to ensure you are know it and work for it

I think those are goals that are really hard for me to achieve, but hey I’m trying and you can’t stop me.

Posted under Live Gigs & Me & Movies

The weekend was great, or so I think. Caught a movie entitled Casino Royale and then music as well. Then end of my first week at work was somewhat on the rising side, where work is a bit more apparent rather than hidden under the sheets. That’s a good sign for me.

Casino Royale was in a way a great movie, but then when I think back of all the kissing and making out scenes in the movie, it made me want to just throw stinky eggs at the either the censorship board or the cinema management. I know it’s a U rated movie for all and of coz I see that there was great family moments where you can see the whole family from toddlers and parents up to grandparents there watching the movie. However I still feel cheated as the film seems to have a big flaw whenever the inconsistency flashed before my eyes. Another problem was sitting in between two family circuses as my friend puts it. These are reasons why cinema does not appeal to me that much other than the big screen and the company.

Alright, a little bit more about Casino Royale. No spoilers though. The thing about this movie is that it’s so different from the previous bond movies and its James Bond movie for you. All I can say it that, there movie is twisted and you will not really be able to anticipate the story line or even if you do, you are most likely to get it wrong in the end, so why do it. The hunk of coz has great eyes, but then to me he does not portray the exquisite bond face heritage. The women are as always charming and beautiful. That’s it from me, so if you want to know more, go and watch it. The medium is up to you, be it DVD or the cinema.

Alexis of coz is not strange place for me and I caught the same gig twice this week, the same place and the same performer. It’s none other than Farid Ali and he plays the gambus. It’s a traditional instrument of our heritage here and his is a custom made one for him. I noticed his name etched on his gambus. I totally enjoyed both nights with music from his strumming fingers and vocals of the band which comprises of Farid Ali on gambus, guitar and vocals, Albert on guitar and vocals, Andy Peterson on Bass and Bada on percussions and vocals.

On a side note… I have been real off the whole weekend. I have been hot tempered and annoyed at a number of things. Don’t bother asking why as I don’t even know why. But the small little things here and there made me feel infuriated, though I know I should not. This week will be better no doubt, but then my heart’s not feeling so good.

You would have noticed that I’ve not been around for a while and the gig was short written. I might be away for a while, might.

Narnia

I just watched Narnia this afternoon. It was such a nice movie. The animation was great, the storyline was somewhat of a fantasy. The messaged being conveyed was pure and simple.

The story revolved around this four, sons of Adam and daughters of Eve. They are Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy. They found the land of Narnia in a wardrobe closet and found themselves an adventure of a lifetime. I am a fan of fantasy and I can tell you I loved this movie, it’s really good and you can learn a thing or two from it too.

I realized that they brought the message of trust into play. These are the elements that we often ignore in our life so often. It’s just touching to watch such movie and it’s about a family, a family that held together and struggled.

Trust often befalls on us, day after day. We always talk about trust and if this person can be trusted or not, that person cannot be trusted and so on. But have you ever thought of this “can I be trusted?”. We so often think in a manner that we focus on other and it never comes to ourselves. Trust is the basic element in building a relationship, in any relationship. I try to implement the thought of everyone can be trusted unless proven otherwise… something that I’m willing to face as I still believe in humanity. However these are more towards non personal things such as my darkest secrets but more towards if I fall, I’d trust that you’d be there to catch me.

To trust other is not easy, no doubt it got tremendously difficult as there have been so many cases praying on the humanity in us. It’s just difficult nowadays to really trust someone as we do think if they have any intentions against us, be it good or bad. When we trust someone, we tend to trust them in anything or you can say everything. I believe in trust as I find trusting something that I can still do without any worries in my mind. The level of trust that I have, I can say amazes me at times too. I believe that I can just fall from the highest building and you’d be there to catch me.

I don’t know how to explain it…
Heck I don’t even know why I’m writing this now

There’s actually no such thing, but then I just watch these two movie so just felt like writing it together. Of course you know what I am talking bout cause you have already known what I have seen. Yes it’s superman returns and the fast and the furious, Tokyo drift.

For superman, it is basically about our man of steel’s comeback to find what he has left on earth. It incorporates some flashback of his childhood and then more towards adapting back to the world we live in. It’s just not easy to leave and then suddenly come back and expect things to be the same so our hero struggles as everything changed. Of course the movie would not be complete without the villain which is Luther.

The movie is more or less like what we would see in the previous superman movies, but there is a significant change which is technology. Overall I think that this movie is more or less the same as the previous ones so it did not really attracts me. But then again for the die hard fans, it’s a must watch and of course the new technology has improved the movie experience.

Now for the movie which I liked, courtesy of angel, so thanks again angel for the movie. It’s Tokyo drift. The movie is a high speed speeding machines roaming around the streets… which I liked. The movie is bout a young chap who likes to race but does not know the proper techniques. He gets into loads of trouble and was sent to Tokyo where he learnt to drift from scratch. May be it’s just me but I liked the drift sequences where you see the cars go side ways. Look carefully and you will find it’s just breath taking how they emphasized the speed and the danger as the cars stayed so close to the walls or almost falling of the ravine. I particularly like the scene of chasing on the road and the crossroad full of pedestrian. If you would have watched it then you would know what I mean. It was totally awesome.

Another main attraction of the movie is of course the babes that are featured in the movie. The beautiful ladies that surrounds the movie is just mesmerizing… trust me. I really like the movie… for me at least.

Go, go… go and watch some movies and tell me if you liked them.

Alexis was the first stop. First I must thank kyels and ashkenne for giving me so many idea of a gift that I needed… big thank you. I’ve already decided which to get.

Alexis in Great Eastern Mall is a cozy place of dinner and a stage where performance takes place. Out aim was not really the food of the wine we had, but the performance. It was Shanon Shah and Ida. I must say I was surprised how long I have lost this in me. It was like rediscovering the things I liked and reliving it. I really enjoyed the night especially with your company. It was kind of like the perfect companion, wine, music, song, and most of all the laughter and tongue! Thanks again to you 2.

Then it was Tokyo Drift and I must say a big thank you to angel who was so kind to take me to the movies after I “merajuk” how long I did not go to the movies, which I duly went for one right after that which was superman returns but nevertheless Tokyo drift is one hell of a movie and guys it’s a must watch. Apart from the fast paced action the attraction in this movie is of coz the beautiful cars and the beautiful beautiful girls.

It’s blissful just to think bout it and I owe it all to them for making it such a happy experience which was a first to me. Though I was stuck in the office almost the whole day yesterday, this made it seem like nothing… happy thoughts does so much you know. I am one happy soul… thanks to all of you… hugs

Eeerrrrr… Chen, angel bring boy boy go see movie, so when is your turn to bring boy boy out ah. I am waiting for you.

Mission Impossible…

I queued up and then slowly walked the line with all the other patrons towards the attendant. Then we got our popcorn and coke which was free, complimentary from Microsoft as was the tickets to Mission Impossible III.

The show was not bad, with my naked eyes I guess there was only one scene that was censored off the show. It was obvious where the wedding vows took place and then some kissing and body contact. And then, wham, comes this agent… this is one of those times that the uncensored version would feel so nice to watch… for continuity of the story of coz. It’s a nice movie, with so much of action packed in one movie and the some unexpected conclusion, at least to my simple mind.

Sad to say, yesterday was like my first time back to the cinema for the past I don’t know how long… I don’t even remember the last movie I watch in the theatre. But then again, yesterday actually reminded me why I have not been to the cinema for those long forgetful times. I am not a guy with a huge frame or very tall but then the seats still seem a little less spacious on my legs. However, it’s so much better than those that I frequent long time ago. May be it was because I was seated quite near the big screen, so my slanting back to have a better experience caused the uncomfortable seating position.

Another problem for me was that my eyes could not comprehend the whole image that was screening so the head movement actually impaired the experience of the movie.

The show is not bad, worth a watch, just for the scene where they blew up the expensive orange sports car…

Exorcism Of Emily Rose

Watched this last Friday and had some unpleasant events as stated before this post. Anyway this is how the story goes.

The true story of Anneliese Michel is here.

If you are hoping to bring your partner to the movie to scare the hell out of him/her, then youve chosen the wrong movie. This is about a true story, which is intimidating and most probably send big question marks at the back of your head at the end of the show.

The movie begins with the death of Emily Rose and the basis of the movie is from the courtroom and a series of flash back. The main gist of the story is about this girl called Emily Rose who was possessed by 6 demonic forces and those who revolved around this court case is the priest, the attorney, some medical experts and a spiritual expert.

The storyline basically tells of how Emily Rose first encounter of the possession in the dorm room, university hospitals and back at home. The movie did not really portray as a gruesome horror with heads splitting in half, people turn into human torches and stuffs like that. It is actually portraying how Emily saw images of the devil around her. It also shows the life of this girl during that time and about all the things she did, which includes self inflicting violence. The show did render a few elements of surprise with had me startled once or twice but mainly it was the sound effects.

I would say that the end of the movie and the questions posted in my mind is indeed intriguing. Its a question of belief. A question of do you believe. From all this commotions, reading of the true story until the screening of the movie, I have found that its very intriguing. I as most people has known, am a free thinker although in my Mykad is reading Buddhism. It actually made me wonder on all the things that are happening in this world. All the good and all the wrong. Do you believe in angels and devils. I believe in all the religions, we do have some sort of angels and devils.

IF YOU BELIEVE IN THE LIGHT,ITS BECAUSE OF OBSCURITY.
IF YOU BELIEVE IN HAPPINESS, ITS BECAUSE OF UNHAPPINESS.
IF YOU BELIEVE IN GOD, THEN YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE IN THE DEVIL

A verse from the inlet of the Enigma CD. I believe its something true which we have denied for so many years and centuries. What do you think?

What do you believe? What is the truth? What fuels your believes? What keeps the faith in you?

OK. This is a film debuted in 2003. I am slow, so sue me. I have actually heard a lot bout this film from a colleague of mind, which is way past his 50s. Yeah yeah, I thought the same thing too, what does a man of his age and his taste in film would catch mine. Well let me tell you that this film is indeed a very nice movie. I will tell you why in a while.
The story is about the relationship of a man (Edward Bloom) and his son (William Bloom). The story starts with the wedding of William and Edward was telling stories to his daughter-in-law. William was not happy as he thinks that his dad was making a fool of himself as his tales contain a lot of elements considered as fairy tale. The story he was telling is about how this big cat fish is uncatchable by anyone and he caught it with his wedding ring and he just took back his wedding ring and released the fish back in the pond. That was on the day William was born. After that night William has a big argument with Edward and they did not speak to each other for the next 3 years until Edward was about to die of cancer. William got the news and headed back to his parents with his wife.
During his stay, he vowed to get to know his dad closely but he did not believe the stories his dad told him. He thought his dad was lying and stuff. During this time Edward was telling some of his stories to his daughter-in-law.
The stories of Edwards early age was as follows, when he was young he was dared to get the glass eye of a witch, and he did. He looked into the eye and saw how he would die. He was a reputable person and was good in all sports. Through his journey he encounters and made friends with this giant whose name was Carl. He took a road less traveled by other and reached a town called spectra and he stayed a while. He left and promised to return.
Then he spotted a lovely girl and knew he wanted to marry. He went and look for this girl and managed to marry her, but then he was sent to war by the government. During the war, he met a Siamese twin of 2 upper bodies and 1 pair of legs.
He returned to spectra and he then bought all the house and land there with the help of his friend in spectra. He and Carl the giant rebuild a house of a young lady as well.
William was having a hard time believing all the stories and decided to clean the pool. He was shocked when a huge catfish emerged in the pool. He was also speechless when the young lady of the house Edward rebuilds told him the story.
The last story in the movie was William recalling the story Edward told him which is to break him out of hospital and drove him to the river. When they reach the river, all his friends were there, the giant, the people of spectra, the circus owner, the Siamese twin, everyone was there. They were sending Edward off. Edward was dropped in the river and he turned into a catfish.
With this story Edward passed away. During his funeral, William saw all his dads friends attending the funeral. The circus owner, the giant, twins and all those in his stories.

It is often enough that we are some times embarrassed by our parents or family or even relatives, I know I am. We always had friend that their parents are the doctors, engineers, or whatsoever professional they are and ours always seem to be not that great. We always say we are proud of our parents and we should be, but is that always the truth. I doubt it.
Let not talk about that and ponder upon our relationship or communication between you and your parents. Does the phrase generation gap ring a bell? I bet it does. We always seek to be understood and say its because of generation gap that they dont understand us, but have we thought about it in a different perspective, do we understand them. Have we done enough to try to understand them? Dont you think it should be mutual where they seek to understand us and we should return it by trying to understand them. The saying goes when you grow older you will understand why your parents are like that, and I believe its true. Dont you think so? Ask those who are close to you who have been a father/mother. They will be able to answer.
I guess what I am trying to say is that we have always wanted to be listened, but have we done anything to deserve the attention? Shouldnt we be realistic and start listening to those we want them to listen to us. If we dont listen, then we would not be listened to as well. I guess if people listened to you then you would listen back to them in return rite.
Think bout it

Seek to listen and understand so we are better understood

The Myth… Jaclyn Victor

I think it has been ages since i went for a movie, so I went to the movies yesterday and the show was The Myth starring Jackie Chan. I watched this all courtesy of GSC BTS (like I dun have to pay la…). The place was frigging cold for starters (coz it was like less than 20 soul in there), is it me outdated or the place is juz not visited?? Then there was this barely 20 guy and gurl that kinda annoyed me at the beginning, he was like on the phone and spoke like he was in the coffee shop (definitely not whispering). Then he started to change place when another couple sat beside them. After the show, the guy was happilly moaning away (n I do mean moan out loud) from the theater up until he was in the loo n in the stable, from the cold I presume or …
What is wrong with all these people?? I mean do whatever you want in your own space or time continuum, not in public man. I know you have overdose of raging hormone n stuff, but publicly moaning especially in the loo is disgusting OK.
Alright, back to the show. The Myth is kinda like a “Lagenda” kinda show. It’s basically a very different from Jakcie’s previous “Police & Thief” movies. This show basically is a flash back of the archaelogist and the a Qin general. Of coz it’s still got some laugh sequence like Jackie likes it, but it’s more interesting especially for me may be coz I like fantasy and sci fi stuff. The movie is bout Jack (Jackie) who his past life is general Meng Yi in the Qin Dynasty. He always dream of this lady which is the Emperor Qin’s concubine, he then discovers the tomb of Qin which floats in mid air in a cave behind a waterfall. Along the way there’s flashback of his past life as the general and the stuff that happened during that past life. In the end he met back with this lady and another general who ate the longevity pill and lived until now. Of coz there is a lot of fight scene and finally he escapes alone leaving all others entombed. He wrote a book bout this and published it titled “The Myth”.
I am just telling the gist of the story so if you really want to know then watch it ok. I am no reviewer of any sort. But it’s a movie of fantasy and a change from Jackie ordinary routine. So it’s kinda worth it to watch if you are looking for a change.
After that i went to Borders to grab some mags and when I was trying to pay there was this lady who was trying to pick out some stuff to by. I was just waiting patiently as normal as my friend came up to me and said “That’s Jaclyn Victor”, and I go “Who”. Yes, it was Jaclyn Victor from Malaysian Idol. After that they opened another counter and i paid there and left.
I am no big fan of Malaysian Idol so I asked again did she really recognized her and she said she recognized the mum and not her!! But there were people who queued behind me who recognized her.
Well, anyway she was polite and stuff, apologizing for the hold in queue. Bravo for her and for winning the title.
The day ended great apart from that frigging moaning boy, got back had few glasses of bourbon coke and called it a day.
